Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly qualified Fire Protection Engineer to enhance our design team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, development, and execution of comprehensive fire protection systems specifically for data centers. This position demands a seasoned engineer with extensive knowledge of fire protection engineering principles, relevant code requirements, and industry best practices. A Professional Engineering (PE) license is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems, customized for data center applications.
- Create detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for fire protection systems.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, ICC, and local building codes.
- Manage fire protection engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall designs seamlessly.
- Conduct site evaluations and inspections to verify the proper installation and functionality of fire protection systems.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.
- Stay updated on advancements in fire protection technology and industry trends.
- Perform risk assessments and fire safety evaluations for data center facilities.
- Prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all fire protection systems, meeting legal and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- At least 10 years of experience in fire protection system design.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, ICC).
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities.
- Demonstrated project management experience, with a proven ability to lead projects and teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Proficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of leading others.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
