Position Overview:

We are in search of a proficient and seasoned Fire Protection Engineer to enhance our design team. The selected candidate will take charge of the design, development, and execution of comprehensive fire protection systems specifically for data centers. This role demands an engineer with extensive experience and a profound understanding of fire protection engineering principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. A successful candidate will possess a proven history in designing fire protection systems and hold a valid Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including detection, suppression, and alarm systems, customized for the distinct needs of data centers.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost assessments for fire protection systems.
  • Ensure compliance of designs with all pertinent codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, ICC, and local building codes.
  • Oversee fire protection engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to seamlessly integrate fire protection systems into overall data center designs.
  • Conduct site evaluations and inspections to verify proper installation and functionality of fire protection systems.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members.
  • Stay updated on advancements in fire protection technology and industry trends.
  • Perform risk assessments and fire safety evaluations for data center facilities.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all fire protection systems, meeting all legal and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in fire protection system design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, ICC).
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, with a capacity to lead projects and teams efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.
  • Self-driven, adaptable to ambiguity, and motivated to work collaboratively and lead others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
