Position Overview:

The role is designed for a professional with robust technical expertise and project management capabilities in the domain of commercial light water reactor (LWR) fuel. The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of innovative fuel concepts, including coated cladding, doped fuel, and enhanced burnup and enrichment limits for existing LWRs (ATF/HBU/HE).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organizing and leading industry meetings, encompassing large-scale webcasts and in-person gatherings, while delivering presentations at utility and member assemblies. This necessitates exceptional presentation abilities and a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, along with problem identification and solution development.
  • Collaborating with utilities, industry organizations (NEI, INPO), and governmental bodies (DOE, National Laboratories, regulators, and international research entities) to foster cooperation and comprehend research requirements.
  • Overseeing a team of highly skilled technical professionals.
  • Staying informed about industry developments and current challenges, such as fuel cladding integrity during operations, anticipated operational occurrences (AOOs), and design basis accidents (DBAs).
  • Providing leadership in the technical business development of problem-solving initiatives from proposal to execution and technology transfer.
  • Traveling within the US and internationally to support the aforementioned tasks and facilitate technology transfer with utilities.
Qualifications:
  • A strong technical foundation, evidenced by experience in nuclear fuel operation, reliability, and performance.
  • Comprehension of current technical issues related to fuel operations and regulatory challenges.
  • Familiarity with accident-tolerant fuel concepts and technical challenges associated with high burnup, power uprates, and cycle length extensions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience in people management and strong interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A minimum of ten years of research and development project experience, showcasing advanced skills in research, project management, and technology transfer.
  • Experience in conducting and/or managing research activities.
  • Proven track record in successful project management, including proposal preparation and marketing initiatives.
  • Accountable for project planning, budgeting, deliverables, and overall project success.
  • Developing and managing complex projects, including promoting concepts to members.
  • Experience in presenting project outcomes to members and advisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with members and other stakeholders.
  • Exhibiting maturity in technical expertise and taking responsibility for specialized technical objectives.
  • Exercising sound judgment, diligence, and attention to detail, with a proven aptitude for handling responsible technical assignments.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience is required.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $157,700 USD to $182,700 USD annually. This range is an estimate, and actual compensation may vary based on various factors, including the applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment.

Benefits:
This role is eligible for participation in EPRI's annual incentive program, with the incentive amount varying based on the plan's terms and conditions. Additionally, the position is eligible for EPRI's standard employee benefit programs, which currently include medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD, paid family leave, life and accident insurance, and paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
