Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans: Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, taking into account their unique learning requirements and goals.
  • Provide Instructional Support: Offer instructional support through both push-in (inclusion) and pull-out (resource room) models, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to succeed academically.
  • Collaborate with General Education Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, promoting a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Monitor and Assess Student Progress: Regularly monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to meet educational goals and ensure that students are making progress towards their IEP objectives.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student development, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns or questions that may arise.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Licensure: Valid Illinois Special Education teaching license.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with middle school students in a resource setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
