School Nurse Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Glenview Public School District #34. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing healthcare services to students and staff, promoting health and wellness in the school community, and acting as a liaison to parents, staff, and government agencies on health issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer first aid, medication, and specialized medical treatments to students and staff.
- Conduct mandated screenings, such as vision, dental, and hearing tests, to identify medical conditions and provide appropriate care.
- Assess situations involving student safety and health-related issues, identifying problems and referring students for proper treatment.
- Collaborate with agencies and school safety team members to conduct site assessments and identify issues for improving safety and accessibility.
- Collaborate with parents, students, teachers, staff, healthcare providers, and public agencies to promote and secure student health services.
- Develop individual student health care and emergency care plans for students with special care needs.
- Coordinate daily student attendance and maintain student attendance records.
- Implement health care plans for students with health problems and accommodate requirements.
- Maintain student confidential files and records, providing information required by legal requirements and professional standards.
- Monitor students referred for illness and injury, attending to their immediate health care concerns and initiating follow-up care.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to gather, convey, and share information on student health needs, service delivery, and educational programs.
- Provide care to students with chronic illnesses and extremely high-risk students, assisting them in achieving the highest possible functional level.
- Provide training on health-related subjects, promoting a healthy lifestyle and acting as a resource to students, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Refer students requiring additional medical attention, providing required follow-up treatment and services.
- Report health and safety issues to assigned administrators and agencies, maintaining students' personal safety and a positive learning environment.
- Research health and medical care topics, providing information to staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Respond to emergency medical situations, ensuring appropriate immediate medical attention and related follow-up action.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Current Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois required
- Illinois School Nurse licensure preferred
- First Aid, CPR, AED, vision, and hearing certification
- Experience with children a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong technology skills
We offer a competitive salary range of $34.65 per hour, placement based on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.
This is a full-time, 10-month position, with a daily schedule of 7 hours, 5 minutes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 6 hours, 5 minutes on Wednesday. The successful candidate will be required to physically manipulate students as needed, including lifting, transferring, and assisting ill or injured students, and will need good vision and hearing ability to observe and document possible illness or injury.
