The Dauphin County Library System is seeking a dedicated full-time Information Resources Administrator. Qualifications and Educational Background:
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or enrollment in an American Library Association accredited MLS program is preferred. A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
Experience Required: A minimum of five years of experience in public service within a library environment is essential. Candidates should possess at least two years of supervisory experience, demonstrate proficiency with technology, and have a solid background in information research and cataloging. Additionally, two years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software, along with internet research skills in a Windows setting, are required. Strong customer service and communication abilities are crucial, as is the capacity to lift 25 lbs. independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise collection management, information services, inter-library loan, and cataloging operations.
- Ensure the library's collection is developed and maintained in accordance with state standards and organizational goals.
- Manage the staff within the Collection Management and Information Services departments.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to foster communication and collaboration.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all modules of the Integrated Library System (ILS) or utilities utilized by the collection management team.
- Establish and nurture relationships with vendors and publishers to facilitate timely and cost-effective access to new library materials and databases.
- Develop and manage departmental and collection budgets effectively.
- Coordinate acquisition expenditures with the finance department.
- Provide training for library staff in Collection Management and collaborate with district partners regarding inter-library loan inquiries and requirements.
- Stay informed about library trends and best practices to enhance service delivery.
- Communicate system-wide objectives, priorities, and policy changes to staff members.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create strategies for promoting information services and library resources.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education workshops, and engage in system committees.
- Promote a culture of excellent customer service.
- Adhere to the Core Values of the organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
