About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our Buildings and Structures Practice in Oakland, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing accident/incident investigations and causal evaluations for energy sector clients, as well as developing and implementing analytical tools and frameworks to characterize and assess critical infrastructure risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing accident/incident investigations and causal evaluations for energy sector clients under the direction of senior Exponent consultants
  • Developing and implementing analytical tools and frameworks to characterize and assess critical infrastructure risks and support decision making
  • Performing engineering analyses related to project work in the energy sector
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations related to project work in the energy sector
  • Preparing technical proposals and pursuing business development, as directed by senior staff
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in an engineering discipline (or M.S. degree with significant industry experience)
  • EIT or PE (Industrial and Systems, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) licensure preferred
  • Technical background in engineering aspects of electric and gas generation, transmission or distribution systems and operation (electrical, mechanical or civil engineering)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
What We Offer

At Exponent, we offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development. Our total compensation plan includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.
