Job Summary

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled High-Performance Powertrain Modeling Specialist to join our Powertrain Architecture and Modeling team. This role involves developing, utilizing, and validating component and system models to guide design teams in trade-off studies, facilitate multi-objective optimization, and communicate performance expectations and requirements through the engineering lifecycle of various products and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the capabilities of Tesla's in-house powertrain performance model and develop a consistent framework for reporting progress of model and component development.
  • Work with the model to produce repeatable and dependable results for various stakeholders within the organization.
  • Effectively communicate modeling study results to drive architecture and performance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Excellent first-principles physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation, and basic thermo and aero-dynamics.
  • Hybrid or electric powertrain component model development and data analysis in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with advanced model development, preferably in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with large datasets and complicated models.
  • Strong communication skills and preference for working in teams.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.

Compensation and Benefits

As a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for a competitive salary range of $84,000 - $168,000 annually, plus cash and stock awards, and benefits including medical, dental, vision plans, 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits.
