Job Description

Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a leading defense contractor, specializes in the manufacture and support of shoulder-fired systems, energetic material solutions, and composite solutions.

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality standards and identifying out-of-spec conditions. This role requires the ability to delegate job assignments, train employees on inspection techniques, and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and teach inspectors to perform company inspection procedures.
  • Delegate job assignments to inspectors in areas requiring inspections.
  • Train Quality Technicians on how to complete Discrepancy Reports (DRs).
  • Perform First Article Inspections as required.
  • Monitor inspector's work assignments daily and document inspector training.
  • Interface with IPT teams consisting of Quality Engineering, Engineering, Production Control, Manufacturing, and Program & Test.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Select products for tests at specified stages in the production process and test products for various qualities.
  • Record test data.
  • Work with Quality Engineering & Engineering to review MRB materials.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within equipment capability limits.
  • Ensure Quality Inspectors have access to necessary information, including MOTs, blueprints, specifications, and testing procedures.
  • Review paperwork to ensure completion and accuracy of all documents.
  • Inspect product to verify conformance to specification of the parts.
  • Actively participate in Daily Visual Management activities and communicate with the Quality Engineering team to problem-solve.
  • Be dedicated to the integrity of the quality function and possess a drive to enhance the quality of both the product and processes.
  • Be able to adapt to the use of new equipment and learn new product and materials.
  • Perform other quality-related duties and be flexible in the factory/plant as assigned based on business needs.
  • Generate and perform verification activities on Non-Conforming Material and discrepancy reports.
  • Comply with all Quality Procedures and Policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED and 2-5 years of relevant inspection experience.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to input, retrieve, access, and send information via computer.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • 2+ years progressive inspection experience preferred in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Certified IPC J-STD-001 Specialist in solder inspection.
  • 4+ years in a progressive manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with detailed drawings, including geometric tolerances, dimensions, general features, and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with performing internal process audits.
  • Advanced proficiency utilizing gauging, including attribute and variable gauges.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong GD&T experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF Processor license.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Able to make accurate measurements.
  • Understand, read, and write English.
  • Able to complete all training to obtain inspection certifications.
  • Able to work under pressure and within time constraints.
  • Able to problem-solve with little or no direction.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Approximately 20% of time at desk using computer.
  • Approximately 80% of time on production floor, requiring safety glasses, protective footwear, and explosives handlers' outer garments, as needed.
  • Able to bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for inspections of parts.
  • Able to lift materials up to 40-80 pounds with assistance.
