Security Director

The University of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Security to join our team. As a key member of our security department, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization and management of security personnel, ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.
Responsibilities:- Communicate effectively with upper management and administration to address security concerns and issues.
- Resolve internal departmental issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with performance planning and evaluation systems.
- Act as a liaison between departments and organizations to promote collaboration and coordination.
- Provide follow-up and documentation on incident reports and other security-related matters.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the security division within the police department.
- Supervise and mentor security personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and training to perform their duties effectively.
- High school diploma and at least five years of experience in a security-related position.
- DCJS Campus Security Officer certification and Security CIT training.
- Valid Virginia driver's license with a positive points balance.
- Previous supervisory experience and ability to lead by example and mentor team members.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to apply safety principles, evaluate situations, and make decisions under varying circumstances.
The University of Virginia offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $105,000 per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
Candidates will be required to complete a background check, psychological assessment, and drug screen before a formal offer of employment will be made.
