Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Equipment Manager to lead the management of a large fleet of construction equipment for a top-tier heavy civil contractor operating throughout North Texas. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of equipment management, including procurement, maintenance, safety, and logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management: Oversee a large and diverse fleet of construction equipment (excavators, bulldozers, loaders, pavers, etc.), ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest standard of operational efficiency.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshoot equipment issues, and manage repairs to minimize downtime and maximize asset lifespan.
  • Procurement & Disposal: Manage equipment procurement, including negotiating purchase agreements and leases, as well as planning for equipment disposal or replacement to ensure the fleet remains modern and cost-effective.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Monitor and control the equipment budget, tracking operational expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
  • Logistics & Utilization: Coordinate equipment deployment across multiple job sites, ensuring availability where and when needed while optimizing asset utilization to support project timelines.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of mechanics, operators, and logistics coordinators, ensuring they are aligned with safety protocols, maintenance schedules, and equipment performance standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all equipment is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company safety standards. Conduct regular inspections and safety audits to mitigate risks.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment management, preferably within the heavy civil construction industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction equipment, including maintenance practices, repair processes, and safety regulations.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities across various job sites.
  • Communication & Coordination: Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and external vendors.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets and analyzing cost data to drive efficiency and profitability.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and maintenance management tools.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license is required; additional certifications such as CMRT (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician) or equivalent are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree: In Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with North Texas construction market: And regional compliance requirements.
