Overview:
As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the analysis of blood, fluids, and tissue samples, contributing significantly to patient diagnosis and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive chemical analyses of various body fluids, including blood, urine, and spinal fluids, to identify normal and abnormal components.
- Utilize microscopic techniques to analyze blood cells, ensuring accurate counting and identification.
- Maintain laboratory equipment by performing calibrations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and managing equipment inventories.
Position Requirements:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from a NAACLS accredited program or an Associate's Degree in a Medical Laboratory Technician certification program. Certification such as MLS or MT-ASCP/MLT-ASCP is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Experience:
A generalist background is necessary, including experience in Microbiology. The Clinical Laboratory Specialist may be assigned to various laboratory sections, including Blood Bank, Microbiology, and Hematology, among others.
