### Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and courteous Host to join our team at C. Baldwin Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton. As a Host, you will be responsible for maintaining an efficient and welcoming restaurant operation, ensuring that every guest has a memorable experience.
### Responsibilities
* Greet arriving customers with a warm and friendly smile, escorting them to their assigned tables and issuing menus
* Establish rapport with guests to accommodate special needs or requests, ensuring a personalized experience
* Assign sections to servers, notifying them of new seats to ensure prompt attention
* Maintain a visible presence in the restaurant, circulating to assist servers, respond to customer requests, and assess the operation's efficiency
* Process payments accurately, counting back change out loud for the guest's protection
* Verify the accuracy of all items on guest checks, confirming correct pricing, discounts, and payment methods
* Ensure all charge vouchers are complete, verifying dates, charge amounts, authorization numbers, and signatures
* Elicit feedback from departing customers to improve the operation, increase customer base, and maximize revenues
* Distribute and account for all checks issued to servers, maintaining an accurate written log
* Count revenues received for the day, balancing cash register reports and alerting management to discrepancies
* Balance and reconcile computerized and manual reports at the end of each shift, presenting accurate and organized daily business records to the Accounting Department
* Maintain a clean and attractive restaurant, assisting with vacuuming, sweeping, general cleaning, and sidework duties
* Check the proper set-up of tables and seating prior to opening
* Report any maintenance or housekeeping discrepancies to management in writing
### Qualifications
* High School diploma or equivalent
* Previous experience of 3 months in a position with heavy cash handling responsibilities and customer service exposure
* High school graduate level mathematical aptitude, knowledge of standard cash handling procedures, and computerized cash register systems
* General knowledge of basic customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles
* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English, follow written and verbal instructions, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
* Tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems, including stressful and emotional situations
* Ability to handle coins and writing utensils, grasp handles, push buttons, and carry dishes
* Ability to lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10lbs
* Vision ability to read written communiques, computer screens, and print-outs, see colors, and survey the entire room in dimly lit conditions
### Environment
* Standing and walking during the entire shift, including carrying, lifting, and bending
* Indoor environment
