Position Overview

In this role, you will work alongside healthcare professionals to provide both direct and indirect patient care within an outpatient clinic environment.

As a key member of the healthcare team, you will execute assigned responsibilities in alignment with Monument Health's policies and procedures, ensuring that each patient's needs are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare examination and treatment areas according to clinic standards.

2. Conduct patient rooming procedures, including vital signs and data collection, tailored to the clinic's specific requirements.

3. Administer and document medications and immunizations accurately, adhering to clinic policy following successful training.
4. Perform EKGs and laboratory tests as permitted by the clinic's CLIA license after completing necessary training.
5. Ensure patient record documentation is precise, clear, and concise within the defined scope of responsibilities. May serve as a provider scribe upon successful training.
6. Complete clerical tasks and manage supply maintenance and ordering as directed.
7. Assist in scheduling follow-up care and appointments as needed.
8. Distribute approved patient education materials and direct inquiries to the appropriate provider or RN.
9. Operate within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
10. Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Education: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program or equivalent training facility.
- Certification: Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by recognized certifying bodies; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire.

Medical Assistants hired during the specified period may have a grace period to obtain national certification.

Preferred:
- Education: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a nursing board.
- Certification: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
- Experience: 1+ years in a clinical setting; 1+ years in healthcare.

Physical Requirements:

Medium work - Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
