Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers professional nursing care to residents of various ages in a long-term care setting, under the guidance of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Exhibits proficiency and operates within the complete range of nursing expertise, utilizing appropriate age and population-specific standards that address the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
Possesses the capability to conduct assessments that reflect the resident's condition and provide necessary care.
Shows the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and respond effectively in emergency situations.Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Participates in resident assessments and administers medications or treatments as prescribed. Provides technical assistance to healthcare professionals as required. Maintains documentation of resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activities, and dietary needs. Skilled in fostering and sustaining effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the community. Capable of collaborating effectively with professional and support staff as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Communicates clearly while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Advises residents, family members, and/or resident advocates, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician regarding prevention and treatment strategies.
Knowledgeable in resident education principles to formulate a self-care program. Performs additional related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required. An associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
If the position necessitates IV therapy/management skills, the following is required:
North Dakota:
Completion of a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or successful completion of an IV Therapy course sanctioned by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
Must have participated in a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan as part of the curriculum or have accumulated a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing Board and/or possesses multi-state licensure privileges. Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications. Completes mandatory annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
