Job Summary

The City of Charleston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Deputy Director of Street Department. This position will be responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the Street Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Street Department
  • Oversee the management of the department's budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively
  • Supervise and direct the work of subordinate employees, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to achieve common goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide leadership and direction to the department, ensuring that goals and objectives are met
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or related field
  • At least 6 years of experience in management, leadership, financial/operational analysis, project management, or related field
  • Strong understanding of construction, particularly in the area of civil/site work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or related field
  • Experience in public administration or a related field
  • Certification in a related field, such as project management or construction management
