Job Summary
The LPN-Resident will be responsible for attending quality and core curriculum classes, actively participating in professional development workshops and peer support groups, and successfully completing all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program. You'll work under the direct and indirect supervision of the Clinical Education Team, refining your nursing knowledge and skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection: Collect patient data and complete required forms with appropriate responses according to unit standards; identify patient problems/needs and communicate with the RN; review and record latest diagnostic results; perform patient care under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
- Planning Care: Participate in the interdisciplinary care team to provide input on the plan of care based on nursing process and which incorporates the plans of other disciplines and continuing care needs; make referrals to multidisciplinary support services under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
- Implementing Care: Care provided conforms to accepted practice standards; provide treatments/procedures and other care as prescribed and according to patient care standards; demonstrate understanding of age-related characteristics and needs of patients served; explain nursing procedures; provide discharge teaching; identify emergency situations and escalate to the RN; act as an advocate for patient care with other health care personnel and evaluate patient care measures instituted; understand and demonstrate respect for patient rights and utilize established mechanisms for management of ethical issues in patient care under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
- Evaluation: Record patient care delivered as planned and any variation, with appropriate rationale; make and record observations related to impending or associated problems; implement nursing measures related to impending or associated problems under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
- Leadership: Integrate cost-effective measures into nursing practice; recognize unit problems and take responsibility for escalating to the RN; demonstrate active participation in QI processes; comply with hospital expectations to meet staffing demands based on patient care needs; comply with policies addressing safe working conditions; monitor unsafe working conditions; recognize inappropriate and/or ineffective patient care management, resolve issue/problem and complete written reports; fulfill call for unit as assigned and adjust staffing for census (volume) and acuity under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
Requirements
Completion of a LPN program recognized by the SC State Board of Nursing; candidates with greater than 12 months LPN experience are not eligible to participate; licensed to practice as a LPN in South Carolina.
Work Environment
Variable (United States of America); Laurens County Medical Campus; Cardiac Telemetry.
