Behavioral Health Specialist

About the RoleAs a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will play a vital role in our Collaborative Care Model, working closely with patients, primary care physicians, and psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care. Your expertise will be essential in assessing and treating patients with common mental health disorders, using evidence-based psychosocial treatments and brief behavioral interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate care with patients' medical providers and other mental health professionals using virtual and in-person modalities
- Screen and assess patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders
- Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications
- Support psychotropic medication management as prescribed by medical providers, focusing on treatment adherence monitoring, side effects, and effectiveness of treatment
- Provide brief behavioral interventions using evidence-based techniques such as behavioral activation, problem-solving treatment, motivational interviewing, or other treatments as appropriate
- Participate in regularly scheduled caseload consultation with the psychiatric consultant and communicate resulting treatment recommendations to the patient's medical provider
- Develop and complete relapse prevention self-management plans with patients who have achieved their treatment goals and are soon to be discharged from the caseload
- Meet one of the following license requirements for the state of Tennessee: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor - MHSP, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
- 3+ years treating patients with behavioral health conditions
- 1+ years working in primary care or other medical behavioral integrated settings
- Experience with assessment and using evidence-based psychosocial treatments and brief behavioral interventions for common mental health disorders
