Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Loss Mitigation Specialist to join our team at Newrez. As a key member of our Loss Mitigation Frontline team, you will play a critical role in helping homeowners navigate the mortgage delinquency process and finding solutions to prevent foreclosure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize manual and automated calling strategies to locate and contact delinquent homeowners.
  • Handle multiple mortgage products that are 60+ days delinquent, adhering to investor, departmental, and legal guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date servicing files, ensuring a comprehensive record of homeowner account activity.
  • Engage in efforts to prevent foreclosure through loan modifications, repayment plans, short sales, or Deed in Lieu.
  • Establish initial contact with homeowners via telephone or written correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively through verbal and written means.
  • Arrange for contractual services related to property inspectors, appraisers, real estate agents, etc.
  • Review and negotiate liens and judgments to protect homeowner and investor interests.
  • Analyze and underwrite borrower income through review of financial documents.
  • Address homeowner questions and concerns, handling escalated files with professionalism.
  • Contribute to departmental success by understanding and positively impacting key performance metrics.
  • Certify that all required actions have taken place prior to completing a foreclosure sale.
  • Ensure all calls and loss mitigation efforts are compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Interact with a diverse audience, including investors, production staff, and homeowners.
Requirements
  • High-school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Over 1 year of loss mitigation, collections, or related mortgage-servicing experience preferred.
  • English fluency required; Spanish fluency a plus.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding telephone and written communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial, sales-oriented business mindset.
  • Familiarity with Internet-based search techniques and lending-related terminology.
  • Excellent reasoning and research skills.
  • Ability to safeguard confidential customer and company information.
  • Solid work ethic, high integrity, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions with minimal direct supervision.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office software.
