Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified lifeguard to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Boston. As a Pool Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all pool patrons, enforcing pool rules, and implementing emergency protocols as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prevent emergencies by continuously scanning the pool area.
  • Recognize and address emergencies or potential incidents immediately.
  • Activate the branch and pool emergency action plan when necessary.
  • Perform assists or rescues as needed, providing care such as CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
  • Complete incident reports in a timely and effective manner.
  • Enforce pool rules and handle issues in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
  • Assist with cleaning and testing of the pool when off duty.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and participate in safety and quality drills.
  • Attend required trainings and maintain certifications.
Requirements
  • Active Lifeguard Certifications (e.g. YMCA, Red Cross).
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
  • Ability to scan the pool visually and sit or stand for extended periods.
