The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team in Boston or Burlington. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing engineering design concepts for HVAC building systems for moderately complex assignments. Project types include corporate, academic, science & technology, industrial, mission critical, civic & entertainment, healthcare, historic preservation & adaptive reuse, and mixed-use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical / HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and layout of devices
  • Make calculations using engineering formulas such as heating and cooling loads and equipment sizing
  • Consult with Lead Engineer to prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems
  • Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the engineer
  • Possess a general understanding of applicable building codes and consult with the engineer regarding building code requirements
  • Participate in and develop company design production standards
  • Promote and use company design production standards
  • Handle multiple projects with efficiency and accuracy
  • Receive and follow through with specific or technical instructions
  • Participate in and contribute to team efforts, exchanging ideas and recommending improvements
  • Attend client meetings as necessary
  • Visit sites as required
Qualifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent technical training/certification
  • One year experience with HVAC design at an MEP firm
  • Revit skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical system design
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical concepts
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • High degree of analytical skill and ability
