Job Title: Principal FPGA Design Engineer

BAE Systems USA is seeking a highly skilled Principal FPGA Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Electronics Combat Solutions Hardware Engineering Group, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge FPGA solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop FPGA architectures and digital circuits
  • Develop and maintain VHDL and Verilog HDL code
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate FPGA designs into larger systems
  • Perform static timing analysis and clock domain crossing techniques
  • Develop and maintain high-speed interfaces such as SERDES, PCIe, and DDR2/3/4
  • Work with revision control systems such as GIT, CVS, and Clearcase
  • Develop and maintain scripts in languages such as Perl, Tcl, Python, and shell

Requirements:

  • 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree or less years with an advanced degree
  • Current Security Clearance (Secret) or eligible to obtain one
  • Significant experience in FPGA or ASIC design and development
  • VHDL or Verilog HDL coding experience
  • Familiarity with Xilinx Vivado or Intel/Altera Quartus
  • Digital simulation using Modelsim/Questa
  • Strong debug and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter and a good team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to distill higher-level requirements into micro-architecture
  • Experience modifying and enhancing legacy FPGA designs
  • Experience leading a design team a plus
  • Experience in hardware design and hands-on lab debug
  • Experience working with FPGA design verification teams
