Job Summary

The Senior Accountant position at Vets Pets combines tasks from General Ledger/Month-end Close, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, and Internal Controls. This role requires a strong work ethic, a passion for business process improvement, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Controller with various month-end and year-end journal entries, financial reporting, and general ledger requirements.
  • Oversee the Accounts Receivable process and year-end requirements, reviewing monthly AR balances with operations and focusing on the 90+ day outstanding category.
  • Control the fixed asset process, including entering, tagging, depreciating, and disposing of assets.
  • Assist in the internal audit and identify areas for process improvement, leading projects to implement new ideas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
Requirements
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Multi-location experience is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise accounting software.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and walk intermittently.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Repetitive motion, including substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, with a CPA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of prior experience in financial reporting and general ledger areas.
