Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Police Officer. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining order, and providing public service to the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patrols on foot, bicycle, or in a police car to observe activities and enforce laws.
  • Operate police equipment, such as cameras, radar, and blood-alcohol testing instruments.
  • Investigate accidents, determine violations of laws, and issue citations.
  • Take charge of situations that require law enforcement personnel, such as car accidents, emergencies, and public disturbances.
  • Administer first aid, direct traffic, and request emergency assistance or vehicles.
  • Perform on-site personal interviews and record facts.
  • Question and obtain statements from witnesses, collect and preserve evidence, and prepare criminal and civil complaints.
  • Refers victims to appropriate agencies, such as Family and Youth Services, medical authorities, or domestic violence programs.
  • Properly uses specialized police equipment and makes arrests and transports prisoners.
  • Testifies in court in both civil and criminal cases.
  • Prepares reports of investigations, activities, and conditions that are dangerous to the public or are of unusual circumstances.
  • Assists other law enforcement agencies.
  • Completes special duty assignments, such as public speaking, conducting search and rescue operations, conducting public educational programs, and special training sessions.
Requirements:
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or U.S. National.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school graduation or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid Alaska Driver's License by date of appointment and for continued employment.
  • Must have at least 1 year of uniformed patrol duty as a commissioned law enforcement officer, certified academy training, and be in good standing.
