Assistant Superintendent (Multi-Family Construction)

619 Recruiting is representing a prominent construction firm specializing in multi-family projects, committed to executing high-quality developments efficiently and within financial parameters. We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent to manage significant multi-family construction initiatives.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Superintendent will be tasked with supervising all on-site construction activities, ensuring that projects are completed safely, punctually, and in accordance with established quality benchmarks. This role demands a proactive leader with substantial experience in commercial construction, outstanding organizational capabilities, and proficiency in managing large teams and intricate projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Direct the on-site construction crew and oversee all phases of the construction process from inception to completion.
  • Safety Oversight: Enforce safety measures to maintain a secure working environment for all personnel and subcontractors.
  • Quality Assurance: Supervise construction operations to ensure compliance with project specifications, building regulations, and quality standards.
  • Scheduling: Create and uphold project timelines, collaborating with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve timely milestone completion.
  • Resource Allocation: Efficiently distribute labor, equipment, and materials to fulfill project objectives and deadlines.
  • Financial Oversight: Assist in budget management, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-control strategies to adhere to financial goals.
  • Subcontractor Management: Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality expectations.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and address any challenges or conflicts that arise during construction to keep the project on schedule.
  • Client Relations: Foster open communication with clients, addressing inquiries and keeping them updated on project developments.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise and current project documentation, including daily logs, change orders, and request for information (RFI) records.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years in multi-family construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficient in project management software and construction technologies.
    • Comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and regulations.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification is required; PMP or other relevant certifications are advantageous.
