Job Title: Red Shield Program Leader

Join The Salvation Army USA Western Territory as a Red Shield Program Leader and make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for children to grow and thrive.

Job Summary:

The Red Shield Program Leader will work closely with youth in our center to build relationships and foster a friendly and safe environment. This role requires a team player who can work collaboratively with Program Aids and directors to deliver programming that meets the ever-changing needs of our youth.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with afterschool and summer programming, providing supervision, guidance, and care for children in an educational, enrichment, and recreational setting.
  • Provide leadership support to Corps ministry components integrated into afterschool and summer programs.
  • Coordinate with the Red Shield Team for afterschool pickups and driving responsibilities from district D-11 schools.
  • Develop partnerships with parents and responsive relationships with children.
  • Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging all children to follow rules.
  • Supervise rotations and sign-in and sign-out.
  • Lead activities in their departments - Gym or Education.
  • Maintain a safe environment.
  • Report all issues to Program Managers.
  • Attend mandatory Staff Trainings.
Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License required.
  • Able to drive in inclement weather situations.
  • Able to drive 15 passengers van and 14 passengers Chevy bus.
  • Establish and cultivate healthy relationships with children and parents.
  • Preferred history of providing professional, effective programming with children and families.
  • Desire to serve others by building on their strengths.
  • Teachable spirit.
  • Competent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work creatively.
  • Communicates clearly.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience.
  • Ability to handle several projects and prioritize work.
  • Commitment to social inclusion.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain records.
  • Ability to follow protocol and adhere to program and external procedures.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information.

Qualifications:
  • High School or Equivalent (required).
  • 3 years: 3 months of full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience working with children (required).
