Job Title: Packaging Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Packaging Lead to join our team at Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of workers engaged in packaging bread and roll products for shipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Starts and adjusts packaging machinery, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Verifies correct date and pricing on product, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Inspects products during packaging process, coordinating further action with Line Control Supervisor or Production Supervisor as needed.
  • Observes packaging operations, inspecting baskets and packages to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Assists workers in resolving technical problems, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth production.
  • Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to work stations, maintaining a well-stocked and organized packaging area.
  • Maintains time and production records, including break sheets, food safety, and safety forms.
  • Monitors production order, ensuring accurate and timely shipment of products.
  • Maintains cleanliness of packaging department, adhering to high standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Relays any employee relations issues observed to supervisor, promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Assists in the training of new and re-training of existing employees, ensuring a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
  • Attends quality lab meetings throughout shift, staying informed and up-to-date on quality control procedures.
  • Verifies accuracy of quick lok and quantity of pallets with completed product, ensuring accurate and efficient shipping.
  • Manages inventory through transactions in the warehouse management system, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Designates rotation of employees throughout Packaging spots fairly and consistently, promoting a sense of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Enforces and adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice regulations, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Reports food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action, promoting a culture of safety and quality.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One to Three years' related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to successfully pass Food Safety HACCP training and competency test.
  • Ability to learn and understand bakery analytics information, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues, generate solutions, and use relevant information to drive decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Sharepoint.
  • Ability to learn bakery systems, including Apex, reporting tools, etc.
