Job Title: Process and Project Packaging Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Process and Project Packaging Engineer to join our team at Stratas Foods. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing packaging engineering and PLC programming support to our entire operation, including production and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management, purchasing, and supervision of contractors for all projects to ensure timely completion within budget.
  • PLC programming and packaging equipment troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
  • Lead and assist management with appropriate training to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with employees at all levels, vendors, visitors, and contractors.
  • Provide necessary safety training to contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Participate in daily production/quality meetings.
  • Provide technical support for plant packaging equipment and improvements, with emphasis on PLC programming.
  • Observe facility operations on a regular basis.
  • Communicate with Supervisors on a daily basis.
  • Oversee facility operations.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in engineering or technical related area from an accredited college/university; Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred.
  • Proven engineering level supervision record of technical/maintenance personnel.
  • Working knowledge in personal computers (Microsoft software necessary) and basic understanding of Allen Bradley PLC.
  • Knowledge of CMMS such as MP2 is a plus.

Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability working well with people.
  • Accounting/economics background to understand cost control and budgeting methods.
  • Competent in making sketches, drawings, line layouts, plans, and written instructions as necessary to affect equipment maintenance/repair.
  • Participative team attitude skills with all personnel to ensure production standards, safety, and sanitation levels are maintained as defined by the Mission Statement.
  • Skilled in packaging equipment, PLCs, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills as part of a team and as an individual contributor.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information:

  • Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps and ladders on occasions, sit at office desk work, sometimes in cooler atmosphere (35-45 degrees), sometimes in engine room (+95 degrees in hot months).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear, see, speak, smell, and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential tasks.
  • Basic problem-solving skills will be necessary.
