Position Overview:
The Director of Clinical Skills and Experiential Learning will play a critical role in the development and implementation of clinical skills and experiential learning programs at Hofstra University. This position will be responsible for providing oversight and support to the nursing Entry and Advanced Level programs, with a focus on clinical skills lab, simulation experiences, and standardized patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement high-quality clinical skills and experiential learning programs that align with the university's mission and goals.
- Simulation Education: Provide simulation lab instruction, including demonstrations, laboratory sessions, and testing, to ensure students develop the necessary skills and competencies.
- Student Support and Evaluation: Ensure student attendance and adherence to policies, procedures, and behavioral guidelines, while also evaluating the effectiveness of simulations as educational and assessment tools.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with department chairs, course faculty, and other stakeholders to develop and implement new curricula that incorporate simulation activities.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in simulation education and clinical skills training, and apply this knowledge to improve program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum of five years relevant experience, including program management experience in a hospital setting.
- Unencumbered NYS License as a Registered Nurse.
- Knowledge of healthcare marketplace, financial analysis, current reimbursement issues, budgets, and operational analysis.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills, including a demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects, prioritize and multi-task.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Professional experience within simulation education for clinical programs.
What We Offer:
Hofstra University offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $120,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
