The Chief Healthcare Engineer plays a pivotal role in guiding clinical personnel on the effective and secure utilization of essential building systems, utility frameworks, and fire safety measures in relation to the healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with various accreditation and regulatory standards, including those set forth by the Joint Commission (TJC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Utilize engineering principles and methodologies to improve healthcare delivery by fostering a technologically advanced, safe, and dependable healthcare setting.
- Oversee the planning, organization, direction, evaluation, and management of Service Line programs, establishing both qualitative and quantitative benchmarks.
- Provide the Executive Leadership Team and clinical staff with insights on integrating Engineering, Maintenance, Capital Management, and other Engineering initiatives into the Medical Center's mission.
- Supervise the Joint Commission Environment of Care Programs for Utility Systems Management, Safety, Life Safety, and Medical Equipment Management across the Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
- Assume full administrative and managerial responsibilities for the Engineering Program, including planning, staffing, budgeting, and overall management.
- Direct all aspects of project planning, design, and supervision related to renovation, modernization, and construction efforts; safety and industrial hygiene; disaster management; and green environmental management services.
- Establish policies, procedures, standards, and objectives for Engineering programs, while developing a management review and improvement process.
- Coordinate engineering activities with other administrative and clinical services within the Medical Center.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm PST
Telework: This position may allow for occasional telework, to be discussed during the interview.
Physical and Employment Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. All applicants may be subject to drug screening prior to appointment. Proficiency in English is required, and a probationary period may be necessary. Participation in vaccination programs is mandatory for all healthcare personnel.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited institution. Relevant experience as a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles as they pertain to healthcare facilities, along with effective communication and management skills.
Preferred Experience:
Two years of experience in a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer role is preferred.
