Job Overview

Rail Yard Crew Member

The Rail Yard Crew Member works under the guidance of the Rail Crew Foreman, primarily responsible for the unloading of aggregate materials from rail cars. This role involves various physical tasks such as shoveling aggregates, lifting, and maintaining cleanliness of the rail cars, along with other assigned responsibilities. The position demands physical stamina, as the worker must be capable of lifting weights up to 75 lbs. The work environment is primarily outdoors and may require travel to different locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the unloading area and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Efficiently unload materials from rail cars.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and work areas.
  • Engage in shop-related tasks as needed.
  • Assist in the installation of rail ties.
  • Conduct track maintenance, including weed control.

Work Schedule:
The typical work hours are around 10 hours per day, with the possibility of extended hours, especially towards the end of the season, potentially reaching up to 70-90 hours weekly.

Requirements:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.

Compensation:
The compensation package will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
