About the Role: We're seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Hardware Engineer to lead and drive successful execution of development projects across mechanical, electrical, and hardware disciplines. As a Lead Hardware Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers and partners.

Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage a team of hardware engineers, providing guidance, direction, and feedback
* Manage coordination with external vendors for fabrication and assembly of production versions of multiple products, and pre-production prototypes of emerging products
* Identify and vet new external vendors as needs arise
* Communicate project status, issues, and requirements with stakeholders and higher management
* Create project plans and schedules, manage team tasks, and ensure milestones are met on time
* Assist with the design and development of system components used in high-resolution imaging systems
* Validate and test all designs to ensure functionality, efficiency, and safety
* Ensure adherence to all necessary quality and compliance standards
* Collaborate closely with the software development team to ensure smooth integration of hardware and software

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. Advanced Degree preferred
* Minimum 5 years of experience in hardware design, preferably involving STM32 microcontrollers
* Located in Pittsburgh, PA or willing to relocate
* Planned and managed multiple projects from start through to completion with ultimate accountability
* Lead engineering teams
* Experience managing contractors for fabrication and assembly of electromechanical products
* Willingness to travel
