Job Overview

The EH&S Specialist will be responsible for planning, directing and leading all EH&S programs for a leading manufacturing company. This role will ensure compliance with state, federal, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations, providing training to employees as needed.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop and implement EH&S programs to minimize risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate activities with the EHS Manager to achieve EH&S goals.
  • Champion permitting and regulatory compliance efforts for new processes and equipment installations.
  • Run non-hazardous waste streams with a focus on cost minimization and volume reduction.
  • Write and maintain program documentation, including procedures and tracking systems.
  • Resolve status of waste streams (hazardous, non-hazardous, etc.) through regular review and testing.
  • Develop and implement new sustainability programs for waste reduction and recycling.
  • Coordinate with consulting firms regarding program changes, remediation, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Develop and coordinate programs to reduce work-related accidents and injuries and for conducting safety audits.
  • Develop and maintain training programs.
  • Coordinate work-related Return-to-Work initiatives.
  • Develop, track and report on leading and lagging safety metrics.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of prior EH&S experience.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA compliance.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
