Job Summary:
As a Hearing Screener at the University of Texas Medical Branch, you will play a critical role in performing newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment. Your responsibilities will include preparing equipment for testing, performing screenings, and obtaining patient demographic information. You will also be responsible for downloading screening results, charting results in electronic medical records, and arranging follow-up appointments. Additionally, you will participate in the preparation of monthly screener schedules and prepare screening result letters. This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks
• Perform automated hearing screenings
• Obtain, import, and/or enter patient demographic information into screening equipment/database
• Download screening results from hearing screening device into database
• Chart screening results in electronic medical records
• Arrange and coordinate follow-up for outpatient screening appointments
• Participate in preparation of the monthly screener schedules
• Prepare screening result letters; provide written and verbal results to parents/caregivers
• Perform daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment
• Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
• Stay abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility

Requirements:
• High school or equivalent
• Ability to successfully complete training requirements
• 60 hours of college credit preferred, health-care experience preferred
• Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills; able to use automated optoacoustic emission and auditory brainstem response screening equipment
