Hearing Screener Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Hearing Screener to join our team at UTMB Health. As a Hearing Screener, you will be responsible for performing newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks
- Perform automated hearing screenings
- Obtain, import, and/or enter patient demographic information into screening equipment/database
- Download screening results from hearing screening device into database
- Chart screening results in electronic medical records
- Arrange and coordinate follow-up for outpatient screening appointments
- Participate in preparation of the monthly screener schedules
- Prepare screening result letters; provide written and verbal results to parents/caregivers
- Perform daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment
- Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
- Stay abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility
- High school or equivalent
- Must be able to successfully complete the following training requirements: Automated hearing screening, Infection control, universal precautions, and CPR
- 60 hours of college credit preferred, health-care experience preferred
Work 20 hours per week
