About the Position:

This role will assist the Food Service Manager with the daily food management of the Child Development Center, ensuring the health and safety of all students through providing a nutritious diet and maintaining allergy prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily food counts to ensure adequate portions for children and staff;
  • Inspect and sign for all food upon delivery to the Child Development Center to ensure correct temperatures are maintained and delivery is accurate;
  • Assist with daily cleaning of the kitchen, staff break room, and multi-purpose room in accordance with Virginia Department of Health standards;
  • Attend and assist with meal set-up for center events and staff training;
  • Ensure all allergens are managed from the kitchen to support allergy prevention in the classrooms.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Possess a current certified Northern Virginia Limited Food card;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S.;
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 10:00 - 2:00 with the possibility of additional hours, up to 29 hours/week;
  • Background check clearance and TB risk assessment;
  • Ability to lift approximately 20 pounds and stand for prolonged periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Food Service in a school kitchen/cafeteria or related venue.
