We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Crew Member to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing exceptional construction experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and Apply Safety Procedures: Familiarize yourself with and adhere to Morton Buildings' safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Read and Build According to Plans: Demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and execute construction plans accurately and efficiently.
  • Execute Tasks with Quality and Efficiency: Complete tasks necessary to deliver high-quality building repairs, including but not limited to:
    • Sliding door, walk door, and window replacement
    • Residing and roofing
    • Replacing sky lights, rotten posts, and splashboard repairs
    • Gutters and downspouts
    • General building maintenance
    • Digging and installing footings
    • Framing walls and roof structures
    • Installing windows, entry, and other doors
    • Installing various siding and roofing materials
    • Finishing with metal and wood trims
  • Operate Construction Tools Safely and Effectively: Utilize construction hand tools and specialized equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Adapt to Flexible Work Schedule and Weather Conditions: Display an ability and willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule and work in various types of weather conditions.
  • Work in a Physically Demanding Environment: Exhibit an ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including high climbing and heavy lifting of objects.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues in a Safe and Productive Environment: Work with other crew personnel in a safe, organized, productive, and enjoyable work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Problem-Solve and Think Critically: Demonstrate the ability to trouble shoot or problem solve and think outside the box.

  • Organize Materials and Plan Daily Activities: Help organize materials and plan for the daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Building Construction Experience: Preferably with experience in building construction, carpentry, or framing (on the job or in school).
  • Training and Development: Willingness to participate in and complete a training program.
  • Driver's License and CDL: A valid driver's license is preferred; Class A CDL is highly desired.
  • Availability and Flexibility: Available to work 9-10 hours during peak construction season.
  • Ability to Take Direction: Ability to take direction and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Quality Work and Efficiency: Produce quality work in an efficient manner.
  • Safety and Compliance: Agree to comply with all safety processes and procedures and maintain and operate construction tools in a safe and proper manner.
  • Specialized Equipment Operation: Ability to operate specialized safety equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Physical Demands: Standard weight lifting requirements - 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Travel Requirements: Capable of working in a physically demanding environment and at various heights (up to 40 feet). This position requires 75% travel, which includes overnight travel possibly up to two weeks at a time.
