Position Summary:
This contract role is designed to support the operational frameworks of the USDA Office of the CIO's Information Security Center. The selected candidate will serve as a Cyber Policy Writer, bringing extensive experience in cybersecurity policy formulation.
This is a surge support position expected to last approximately one year from the date of hire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, revising, and formatting cybersecurity policies and procedures to establish formal cybersecurity guidelines.
- Employing industry best practices and frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, and ISO.
- Identifying opportunities for process enhancements and tool improvements.
- Assessing and providing constructive feedback on document content and procedural workflows.
- Publishing security policies and collaborating with management to ensure accessibility and timely communication of policy changes.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical documentation related to information security and compliance.
- At least 3 years of experience in technical documentation.
- Familiarity with leading practices and frameworks (NIST, FISMA, RMF, etc.).
- Strong understanding of security and risk management methodologies, frameworks, and technologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Information Security Compliance requirements.
- Excellent proofreading abilities to evaluate documentation quality.
- Proficient in O365 applications, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Comfortable presenting to mid-level and senior management.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with USDA or other governmental entities is a significant advantage.
- Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CISM, or CASP are preferred but not mandatory.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Travel Requirements:
- No travel required.
Clearance Requirements:
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Compensation:
- Annual salary range of $110,000 - $120,000. This range is an estimate made in good faith and considers various experience levels. Factors influencing the offer include the role's responsibilities, the candidate's background, and key skills.
