Patient Encounter Assistant

**Overview:**
The Patient Encounter Assistant will provide specialized services in support of the operations of their assigned clinic. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work independently.
**Responsibilities:**
- Check in patients, answer phone calls, and route messages
- Enter demographic and charge data into the system
- Provide assistance at the UAB Medicine Self Check-In Kiosk as needed
- Demonstrate outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and staff
**Requirements:**
- One year of customer service experience required
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management
- Ability to perform math and bookkeeping skills
- Exceptional telephone and customer service skills
- Knowledgeable of English grammar and punctuation
**Compensation:**
$40,000 - $50,000 per year based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include tuition assistance, wellness initiatives, and generous paid time off.
