Job Summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a highly qualified Digital Media Teacher to join our team. As a Digital Media Teacher, you will be responsible for providing rigorous and relevant instruction on pre-approved hands-on curriculum in the content area and general workplace readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality instruction on digital media skills, including graphic design, video production, and animation.
  • Integrate soft-skill instruction into competency-based content area activities.
  • Support students in industry-relevant competitions, industry exploration activities, professional organizations, and post-secondary initiatives.
  • Show evidence of project-based learning, such as competitions, capstone events, etc.
  • Collaborate with core content teachers on common course planning, integration, and alignment.
  • Collaborate with school-based staff, including college and career coaches, counselors, and CTE Partnership Development Liaisons and Program Coordinators, to identify and recommend work-ready students.
  • Attend all relevant professional development sessions set by the Department of College and Career Preparation to provide the best educational experience possible for students.
  • Maintain and update industry certifications as required by the Illinois State Board of Education and Chicago Public Schools.
Qualifications
  • Eligible to receive an ISBE Professional Education License (PEL) in Technology Education with coursework in Digital Media, or
  • Eligible to receive an ISBE Educator License with Stipulations (ELS(CTE)) in Digital Media (certificate must be in place prior to teaching)
  • Minimum Associate's Degree in Communications or Multi-Media from an accredited college or university
  • Adobe Creative Suite Certification or must be obtained within 12 months from hire date
  • Minimum 4,000 hours (2 years full-time) of industry experience in screen printing, heat printing, and digital printing
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Media/Communication or other Media Related Field
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suites
  • Print and Web Design
  • Proficient in Mac and PC
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Excellent planning, organization, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High-level problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Team and detail-oriented
Residency Requirement

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
