We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and the well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct pre-surgical examinations and obtain medical histories.
- Administer pre-anesthetic medications and monitor patient responses.
- Insert and manage IV catheters for fluid therapy and medication administration.
- Sterilize and set up surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist in tissue handling, retraction, and other tasks as directed.
- Record all data accurately for the medical record.
- Adjust anesthesia levels and administer additional medications as needed.
- Provide postoperative care, including pain management and wound care.
- Ensure the surgical suite is disinfected and ready for the next procedure.
- Explain postoperative care instructions to pet owners and provide updates on the patient's condition.
- Accurately document all aspects of the surgical procedure, including anesthesia records, patient monitoring data, and postoperative care.
- Ensure the surgical area complies with veterinary medical standards and guidelines.
- High school diploma
- Active CA-RVT license is required for this position
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
- Consistent and reliable ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
- Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license.
- Proficient in anesthesia administration and monitoring.
- Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
