About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a Veterinary Surgery Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preoperative Patient Care: Prepare surgical suites and equipment, sterilize surgical instruments, and assist with patient preparation.
  • Anesthesia Management: Administer and monitor anesthesia, monitor vital signs during surgery, and adjust anesthesia levels as needed.
  • Surgical Assistance: Provide surgical instruments and supplies, maintain aseptic technique, and handle tissues for analysis.
  • Postoperative Care: Monitor patients in recovery, provide postoperative care and medication, and maintain detailed records.
  • Radiography and Imaging: Take and process X-rays, ensure proper patient positioning, and maintain equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and sterilize instruments, and perform equipment maintenance.
  • Client Communication: Explain postoperative care to pet owners, provide updates on surgical procedures, and respond to client inquiries.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency surgeries, administer emergency medications, and respond to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active CA-RVT license is highly desired for this position, but not required.
  • Clinical experience in veterinary surgery required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients.
  • Consistent and reliable ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations, and maintain detailed records.
  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role.
