Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a skilled Scheduler to support our Scheduling Department at our 5206 Research Drive location in San Antonio, Texas. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday, 8:30a - 5:00p, and will be responsible for scheduling new patients, patient referrals, and returning patients in our computer system. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology and coding, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities
  • Answer all incoming calls and direct callers to the appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule new patients, patient referrals, and returning patients in our computer system.
  • Obtain and enter all insurance authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patients' charts and/or electronic medical records.
  • Collect co-pays, deductible, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of visit.
  • Maintain the primary office scheduling template containing physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding, and call coverage.
  • Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/practice.
  • Follow policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
  • Cover for other front office functions as requested.
  • Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-3 years' experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
Work Environment

The work environment is an office setting with contact with patients and public. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
