Job Overview: As an MRI Technologist, you will engage in technical operations involving magnetic resonance imaging systems to capture diagnostic images utilized by healthcare professionals for the assessment and treatment of medical conditions. Your role will encompass executing diagnostic imaging procedures, positioning patients appropriately, and managing the console and ancillary equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures by operating MRI scanners to generate images and relevant data for medical evaluations;
  • Gather, analyze, and compile essential patient history and clinical information to support diagnostic accuracy;
  • Select suitable imaging modalities and proficiently operate the imaging console and related equipment;
  • Assist in positioning and instructing patients to ensure optimal preparation for imaging procedures;
  • Implement quality assurance measures, conducting tests and evaluations as directed by supervisory staff;
  • Process and evaluate film images following standard darkroom protocols, ensuring image quality and completeness;
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of imaging procedures, providing copies of images upon request;
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and report issues to supervisory personnel;
  • Ensure consistent operational integrity of imaging equipment;
  • Collaborate with referring physicians as necessary;
  • Foster effective working relationships with medical and nursing teams to guarantee timely patient services;
  • Engage in ongoing education to enhance MRI techniques and practices;
  • Contribute to the development of innovative imaging techniques as needed;
  • Assist in utilizing diverse equipment and methodologies not routinely employed.

Qualifications:

Experience: Comprehensive understanding of modern MRI procedures and equipment operation; familiarity with safety protocols in imaging; strong knowledge of human anatomy; proficiency in operating and performing minor repairs on complex MRI systems; ability to follow detailed instructions and guide others; capability to assist patients effectively.

Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Certification Program.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid license and current registration from the New York State Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiography, with a minimum of two years' experience in a hospital or private radiological service performing MRI scans.

Special Requirements: Certification and maintenance of current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in magnetic resonance imaging.
