Job Overview:
The Medical Imaging Technologist is responsible for conducting radiological procedures. Adhering to established departmental protocols, the technologist effectively positions and secures patients, operates imaging equipment, and selects appropriate technical parameters to ensure high-quality radiographic images. The role also involves maintaining equipment cleanliness, managing clinical supplies, performing quality assurance tasks, and utilizing departmental systems for patient image and record management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with various procedures, ensuring sterile techniques are followed and surgical trays are prepared.
- Administer imaging tests as directed by clinical providers, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Prepare patients for Special Procedures exams using various imaging modalities as per physician instructions.
- Support physicians during interventional procedures by either scrubbing in or circulating.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and data entry into imaging systems.
- Adjust imaging equipment settings to maintain radiation exposure within safe limits.
- Archive images properly and utilize Radiology Information Systems for accurate patient record-keeping.
- Monitor and secure supplies according to departmental policies.
- Troubleshoot imaging equipment and coordinate service calls as necessary.
- Assist in training new staff and serve as a resource and role model.
- Maintain a clean working environment in compliance with regulatory standards.
- May be assigned to operate other imaging modalities as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Certification Program.
Licenses/Certifications: Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist and registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).
