Job Title: Family Defense Paralegal

Americans for Immigrant Justice (AI Justice) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Defense Paralegal to join our team. As a Family Defense Paralegal, you will play a critical role in supporting the Family Defense Program's mission to protect and promote the rights of immigrant families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage client and outreach data in AI Justice's database, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the planning and execution of legal screening clinics and community presentations.
  • Provide administrative support to staff, including preparing marketing materials and coordinating events.
  • Assist with event coordination, including preparing supplies and confirming volunteer attendance.
  • Attend evening and weekend clinics/KYRs, as needed, and assist with coordination of events and volunteers.
  • Provide information via phone and email about services provided, and update voicemail greeting to contain information on intakes.
  • Conduct intakes in-person (in the office or at clinics) or via phone, as needed.
  • Prepare and submit Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests for clients to USCIS, EOIR, CBP, and ORR.
  • Prepare written translations of documents as needed.
  • Interpret for clients and/or attorneys at interviews.
  • Coordinate in-office intakes.
Requirements:
  • Fluent in written and oral Spanish.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Good writing skills in English required.
  • Clear understanding of client confidentiality and online security issues essential.
Benefits:
  • Salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $46,000 to $71,000.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including excellent health, vision, dental, and life insurance coverage.
  • 15 paid days of vacation leave, 13 paid holidays, 10 paid health days, and 1 personal day.
  • After one year of employment, staff are entitled to paid parental leave and up to 3% matching employer contribution to 403(b) retirement plan.
