A. O. Smith EHSS Coordinator Job Description

A. O. Smith is a global leader in innovative technologies and energy-efficient solutions. We are seeking an EHSS Coordinator to provide support in all Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHSS) functions and coordinate plant-wide safety and environmental efforts and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist management in preparing the annual plant budget for EHSS
  • Represent the facility on the Global EHSS Council
  • Perform safety training sessions and hold toolbox talks with plant operators
  • Manage EHSS through an ISO-based management platform and reporting tools
  • Perform routine tasks such as project safety plans, job hazard analyses, incident investigations, workplace observations, and ensuring safety equipment is maintained
  • Assist with company-wide programs such as drug testing and safety awards
  • Report safety performance to the Corporate EHSS Director and plant management
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • ASP (Associate Safety Professional) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred
  • Good general problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and current understanding of all applicable regulations, including federal, state, and local laws and standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Moderate project management skills, including safety meetings, safety committees, leadership meetings, and managing the ISO program
