About the Role

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our data science team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning models to drive business growth and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement artificial intelligence and machine learning models to drive business growth and improve patient outcomes
  • Migrate and validate existing models to the enterprise platform
  • Lead process improvements efforts related to the machine learning life cycle
  • Adopt and implement governance policies of enterprise algorithms
  • Develop knowledge sharing content and other endeavors related to the department's artificial intelligence/machine learning program
  • Mentor data scientists and junior data scientists by providing guidance, advice, and support in various facets of advanced analytics
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or other computational/quantitative field
  • 5 or more years of advanced data analysis experience and expertise in diverse statistical, data mining techniques and technologies
  • Proficiency with machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras, pandas, etc.
  • Strong programming skills with languages such as shell scripting, Python, Perl, C++, SQL, and Java
  • Experience working with Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, ggplot2 or similar data visualization tools
  • Demonstrated experience synthesizing and analyzing large data and making program recommendations based on that data
  • Excellent written and communication skills explaining complex quantitative models to business stakeholders, management, and executives
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in an academic medical setting
  • Knowledge of applicable University policies and state and federal laws regarding copyright and other licensing issues
  • Experience working with Epic and Foundry
