About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Data Scientist to join our world-class Data Science team at Atlassian. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, influencing product strategy, and leading complex data science programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify key business challenges and develop strategic initiatives for cross-functional business partners.
  • Influence Atlassian Intelligence product strategy and roadmaps, and drive impactful change through analysis and recommendations.
  • Lead and prioritize multiple workstreams and/or large complex data science programs.
  • Drive best practice techniques for communicating complex information, including the development and use of frameworks and conceptual models.
  • Lead the evolution of data assets in your team, and coordinate with and influence other data science and engineering teams.
  • Leverage broader industry knowledge to establish frameworks to measure customer engagement with and quality of Atlassian intelligence features.
  • Actively share your work and knowledge to benefit work done across data science.
  • Proactively enable your data science team to address business needs and navigate change and ambiguity.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of driving projects or programs that have had a significant impact on business strategy and performance.
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.
  • Expertise in SQL and another data manipulation programming language (e.g., Python, R).
  • Proficiency in at least one visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, R-Shiny, Looker).
  • Expertise in applying a broad variety of statistical concepts (e.g. regressions, A/B tests, clustering, probability) to business problems.
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams, with a focus on achieving strategic objectives.
Desirable Qualifications
  • 12+ Years of Experience in Data Science or related fields.
  • Understanding of the SaaS business model and key metrics.
  • Experience in developing insights for Chat, Search, or LLM-based products.
  • Championing the adoption of industry standards in a functional area of Data Science.
