The Hartford HealthCare Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) is seeking an experienced E Cardiac Surgeon to oversee the Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Devices department. This leadership role involves working with a dedicated team of skilled professionals at Hartford Hospital.

We are proud of our Cardiovascular Data Management Center, which plays a crucial role in enhancing quality improvement initiatives and benchmarking patient outcomes against state and national standards.
Hartford Hospital has achieved a prestigious three-star rating from the Society for Thoracic Surgeons, reflecting our superior patient care and clinical outcomes in various cardiac procedures, including:
- Aortic valve replacement
- Coronary artery bypass grafting
- Mitral valve replacement and repair
- Combined mitral valve replacement/repair and coronary artery bypass grafting
- Combined aortic valve replacement/repair and coronary artery bypass grafting
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a well-established heart failure program encompassing transplant, VADs, and ECMO.
- Manage a robust valve surgery program with high volumes of aortic replacements, TAVR, and minimally invasive procedures.
- Oversee operations in 40 surgical rooms, including dedicated cardiac facilities and advanced hybrid operating rooms.
- Facilitate over 1,500 open-heart surgeries annually.
- Coordinate referrals from multiple affiliated hospitals across the region.
- Engage in academic and research opportunities in collaboration with the University of Connecticut.
- Support critical care initiatives with specialized cardiac intensivists and advanced practitioners.
- Utilize our nationally recognized Center for Education, Simulation Innovation (CESI) for training and development.
